Let’s face it, the UK pretty much grinds to a halt with the slightest bit of snow, let alone 8" of the stuff! How do we cope?

Let’s face it, the UK pretty much grinds to a halt with the mention of snow, let alone 8" of the stuff on the M3! How do we cope?

…….. by keeping an eye on Met Office weather warnings and the live #uksnow twitter/googlemap the controllers at Astral Couriers have been able to keep drivers informed and give customers realistic delivery expectations for our same day couriers out on the roads.

Our vehicles are GPS tracked so we can see where they are and how fast they are going, but we have found that the up-to-the minute live feed from the #uksnow twitter map has been indispensable additional tool in our office enabling us to see what the vehicles are heading into or to prepare for what is heading their way.

Understandably there will be delays with the severe weather conditions and road closures. Our couriers are leave prepared for these conditions and will try their best to get the goods delivered on time, however they will never put themselves or others in danger.

Call us if you want to know how your courier is doing, but don’t panic, according to the Met Office it’ll all be over by the weekend!

If you are on Twitter you can help keep the UK informed of the snow conditions where you are, these maps rely on regular information being sent to them. Simply tweet the hashtag #uksnow, the first half of your postcode, and rate the snow that is falling out of ten (0/10 for nothing, 5/10 for steady snow and 10/10 for arctic blizzard conditions). Pictures and comments can be added too.
